Submission outlines harsh impacts of COVID-19

Welcome to the November issue of Gatherings.

This issue’s feature article is on IPEd’s latest submission to a parliamentary inquiry into Australia’s creative and cultural industries and institutions. Our submission specifically deals with the impact of COVID-19 on the creative and cultural industries, and on editors in particular.

Ambassadors Program extended

IPEd’s Ambassadors Program has been extended until November 2021.

The program, funded with assistance from the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, has enabled IPEd members to speak to aspiring authors, the public and university students about the role of editors and how they can assist.

Due to COVID-19, the Ambassadors have pivoted to online sessions and feedback from participants has continued to be positive.

In 2021, we plan to contact  more universities, writers centres and libraries to expand the number of presentations. Thanks to former chair Kerry Davies, who has volunteered to assist with the program.
