IPEd

From the committee

Do you enjoy reading articles in Gatherings about IPEd events?

How about volunteering to write an article yourself? You would be providing a service to your fellow editors while reinforcing your own recollections of the presentation by writing about it. You could add the publication to your CV. Not to forget that it’s good practice to put ourselves in the position of our authors from time to time.

The next online speaker presentation hosted by Editors Queensland will take place on Wednesday 7 May. Charlotte Cottier AE, Chair of the IPEd Accreditation Board and freelance editor, will be in conversation with one of her authors, Jane Yang, talking about “Under the covers of trade fiction publishing and the author-editor relationship”. Fancy writing something about that?

And, on Wednesday 14 May, Editors Queensland is organising a workshop with popular presenter David Whitbread on the topic of “Working with designers”. Hurry to book your place if you haven’t already – and we’d love it if you could tell us about the workshop in a Gatherings article.

Forward to Wednesday 6 August, when Editors Queensland will be hosting a presentation by Dr Carody Culver, editor of the acclaimed Griffith Review. Keep an eye out for the booking link. How about writing something on that much-anticipated event?

Articles have a limit of approximately 700 words. Please contact Linden George AE, our speaker events coordinator, if you are interested: edqld.events@iped-editors.org.

Social event for Brisbanites: Saturday 7 June

COVID made us all retreat into our private spaces, and since then we have mainly communicated online. Are you feeling the need for more face-to-face connection? Come to the Botanic Gardens Cafe, Mount Coot-tha, on Saturday 7 June at 10 am for coffee or brunch, your choice. Swap stories and information with your fellow editors. If you are a beginning editor, all the better! You might make some helpful connections. See the IPEd Events page.
