From the committee

The Editors NSW committee met on 8 April 2025 for its two-monthly meeting via Zoom, with two apologies. Russell Noakes chaired the meeting. Minutes of the February 2025 committee meeting were accepted with no amendments. The agenda was confirmed and actions from previous meetings were reviewed and dealt with.
The committee discussed a vacancy for the role of Zoom support for Editors NSW meetings and presentations. We are following up on expressions of interest in the role.
Given other recent changes in roles, the committee reviewed the logistics required for presentations to be planned and advertised early and to run smoothly. Marita Smith AE will continue to support Jennifer Rowland AE in this work.
We hope to have a fascinating international writer (and swordsman!) for a presentation on 3 June. The committee also discussed the potential for a further workshop by Cathy Nicoll AE, expanding on her successful “Editing for the web” presentation earlier this year. Events discussions included planning for the popular July dinner.
Reviewing the budget, the committee discussed financial reports for the third quarter of 2024–25 and for March 2025. The budget was shaping up to be similar to the preceding financial year, including five presentations (potentially six with a post-ABM presentation) with other costs and expenses.
