President’s report

By Deborah Shaw AE

Kia ora,

I hope you’ll be able to join us to hear Karen Workman from Copyright Licensing New Zealand (CLNZ) talk about copyright for editors. Karen is a wonderful speaker and so knowledgeable about what can be a tricky topic to navigate.

The talk will have broad appeal to editors in different sectors, and it may even be helpful if you’re sitting the accreditation exam later this year.

The CLNZ website has lots of great information if you’re wanting to brush up on your copyright knowledge or if you’re looking for answers for clients.

Check out their resources page:

https://www.copyright.co.nz/understanding-copyright/resources.

And their information on copyright and publishing:

Pertinent to all of us at the moment is AI. Here’s a CLNZ fact sheet on AI and copyright:

https://www.copyright.co.nz/downloads/assets/5754/1/fact-sheet:-artificial-intelligence-and-copyright.pdf.

And an article about developing AI in a way that is fair for everyone:

See you online.
