Christmas greetings and thanks from the President

by Caroline Simpson AE

Kia ora to you all.

It feels great to welcome our two new committee members: Alison Wilson and Deborah Shaw. Thank you, both, for volunteering your time and support to the branch. Thank you also to those of you who offered behind-the-scenes support. We value what you do for the branch.

Our last online event for the year is our Christmas party on Tuesday 14 December. Expect a light-hearted time with a competitive touch. Please come along if you can. We all deserve a bit of a laugh at the moment and a reminder of the warmth to be found in the company of other editors.

With the accreditation exam in August next year, we will focus on supporting our new crop of candidates as they get closer to sitting the exam. When you have done your prep, taking the exam is exhilarating. Timing is crucial and concentration is intense, but it’s hard to beat that feeling when all your study pays off and you know exactly what you need to write. Well … more or less.

This is the last Gatherings for the year, so the committee would like to wish you all a happy and relaxed festive season. We hope you can spend time with family and friends and that you all stay healthy. We wish you a good break from work and maybe some tech detoxing too — we could all do with that. See you in 2022.

Noho ora mai
