We’re pleased to introduce Donald Ritchie as Director for Victoria, appointed by Editors Victoria. Donald brings a strong combination of editorial expertise and governance experience to the Board, adding valuable depth to our collective skills and perspective.
Donald is a non-fiction editor with experience across government, legal and academic sectors. He runs a full-time editing practice providing developmental editing, copyediting and proofreading for courts, universities, government agencies and professional organisations. His work reflects a thoughtful approach to complex material and a clear understanding of how editorial decisions support both authors and readers.
Alongside his editorial work, Donald has an extensive background in policy and governance. His previous roles include Principal Advisor to the Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria and senior policy and research positions with the Sentencing Advisory Council. He has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course and brings strong capability in governance, stakeholder engagement and strategic oversight.
Donald joined the Editors Victoria committee in 2023 and has served as Secretary for 2024–25 and 2025–26, supporting professional development activities and events, including organising the 2024–25 annual branch meeting.
We’re looking forward to working with Donald in his new role and to the contribution he will make to our work across accreditation, advocacy and professional development.
