IPEd

We have recently welcomed several new Board directors. Over the coming issues of Gatherings, we’ll meet them and learn a little more about them. Today, we meet our new finance director, Lisa Braun, who shares her motivation for joining IPEd, her love for science and finance podcasts and the superpower she wishes she had.

Lisa’s career spans 25+ years across several industries. For the past 10, she has been focused on business strategy in the public sector. As a data and analytics director at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Lisa is currently delivering a program of work to modernise trust administration systems. She has also served a 4-year term as a local councillor, representing her community.

Why did you decide to join the IPEd Board?

I had been looking for opportunities to venture outside of my comfort zone and “do more” with my career and the skills I have to offer. I have a few small volunteer roles that I participate in, but I wanted something more that I could really sink my teeth into. When IPEd came along, it just felt like a good fit.

What are you most excited about in this new role?

I’m excited to see IPEd grow. After attending the conference in Adelaide and speaking to several members, I am quite excited to keep learning about what makes editors tick and how IPEd can support them better. I am also keen to help uplift IPEd’s presence in the wider community.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of my “day job” and now my role at IPEd, I am studying a Bachelor of Finance at university. I also have a young family so a lot of time is consumed doing the boring “mum” things to keep everyone in line. When I do have downtime I enjoy reading all kinds of science fiction, hiking and listening to podcasts about science or finance.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have a superpower, it would be not needing to sleep. Life has so much to offer and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all!
