IPEd

Hi

I’m pleased to announce that IPEd and the Professional Editors’ Guild (PEG), based in South Africa, have signed an affiliate agreement.

The agreement includes:

  • promoting each other’s events to our memberships, where relevant
  • organising combined events
  • recommending guest speakers on relevant areas of expertise
  • reciprocal membership.

IPEd and PEG have had a long history of working together and have now formalised this with the affiliate agreement as a benefit to both our memberships.

Launched in Johannesburg in 1993, PEG is a national body with three branches, each run by a committee of volunteers. PEG represents practitioners who operate in the South African publishing industry, corporate communications and media.

PEG’s objectives are to:

  • promote high standards of copyediting and proofreading
  • uphold the professional status of copyeditors and promote professional behaviour among members
  • promote contact among members, the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information on matters of professional interest
  • promote an understanding of the work of copyeditors among potential clients and the public
  • establish and maintain liaison with other societies of copyeditors worldwide.

We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial affiliate membership with PEG and its members.

HLMs, retired members, please share your stories

IPEd is continuing its series profiling Honorary Life Members (HLMs) and retired members in Gatherings.

If you are an HLM or retired member, we’d love you to share your experiences in the editing profession with your fellow members.

Feel free to respond with an article or even a video about your professional life. Here are some generic questions you can use as a guide, but feel free to write your own narrative. Please send contributions to Communications Officer Kate Tilley at communication@iped-editors.org

Communications Standing Committee

EdTas, EdANZ and EdSA are currently unrepresented on the Communications Standing Committee (CSC), so if you’re a member of one of these branches and interested in joining CSC, please email Chair Christine Atkinson at edqld.president@iped-editors.org.

CSC has received expressions of interest from several people to join the subgroup that will work on the website updates, and they will hold a meeting in the next week or so.
