Conference update

We are just over eight weeks away from IPEd’s 10th editors conference: Editing on the edges. The conference committee is excited about what is in store for delegates and, if registrations are anything to go by, so are our delegates.

We are delighted to announce that, in addition to the stellar line-up we have so far, delegates will also enjoy hearing from Roland ‘Roly’ Sussex OAM, FQA, Chevalier des Palmes Académiques, and Dr Mark J Lock BSc (Hons), MPH, PhD, as additional keynote speakers.

In addition to being IPEd’s patron, Roly Sussex is Emeritus Professor of Applied Language Studies at the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Queensland and hosts a talkback program on language and linguistics on ABC radio.

Dr Lock is a descendent of the Ngiyampaa people (a tribe of First Nations Australians), English and Scottish convicts on the First Fleet (the Lucas clan), Latvian immigrants and Australian free colonists. In his career, he has experienced culturally dangerous writing, editing and publication practices. He will share how these lessons have influenced his editing business and writing activities.

The conference website will be updated soon with these changes and more to come.

Workshop spaces continue to sell well, and many workshops are close to capacity. Whether you attend the full conference program or not, the array of workshops offers excellent professional development opportunities. We encourage you to grab remaining spots while you can.

Early-bird conference rates are open until 27 May 2021, offering ample time to take advantage of low rates.

A warm thank-you is extended to all members who have generously volunteered to be part of the Zoom host team. We still need more help. If you can host one or two sessions throughout the program, please contact projects@iped-editors.org.

We look forward to sharing more information with you soon. In the meantime, you can visit iped2021.org.au or contact the Conference Convenor conference2021@iped-editors.org or Conference Support projects@iped-editors.org.
