President’s report
By Deborah Shaw AE
Kia ora
Big congratulations to our members at the Auckland University Press team, especially Lauren Donald and Katharina Bauer, for their two wins at the New Zealand Book Awards in May!
Toi Te Mana: an Indigenous history of Māori art won the BookHub Award for Illustrated Non-Fiction. Lauren spoke about her work on this book in April’s Gatherings.
Sight lines: women and art in Aotearoa won the Judith Binney Prize for Illustrated Non-Fiction.
If you were lucky enough to attend the awards or any of the talks and sessions at the Auckland Writers Festival, I hope you had a great time! The line up looked fantastic. Juanita Nieuwoudt, an Editors ANZ member and our branch secretary, has written a fantastic account of her evening at the awards.
You may have seen the call for poster submissions for the IPEd Conference in Adelaide in July. Even if you’re not attending the conference, if you have an idea for a poster, please make a submission. If your idea is accepted, I can make sure your poster gets to Adelaide.
Ngā mihi
Deborah
