President’s report

We’re well and truly into winter – at least here in Dunedin! I hope you’re staying warm wherever you are. In late June we celebrated Matariki – a time to connect with whānau and reflect on the year past.
Many of you will have heard of Maurice Gee’s death in June, and many will be familiar with his work, perhaps through studying high school English, reading his books as a child or reading them to your children. Claire Mabey from the Spinoff has written a wonderful obituary about him.
I’m looking forward to meeting our members who are making the trip to Adelaide for the IPEd Conference. It’ll be an intense few days full of connections and conversations. And I’m also looking forward to sharing a branch dinner with Western Australian members on the Friday night. (If you’re attending the conference but haven’t received the invitation to the dinner, send me an email and I’ll share the details.)
Thank you to those who applied for the EdANZ conference subsidy. I hope it helps cover some of your costs. And thank you to the Conference Committee for helping to make the subsidy possible!
Ngā mihi
