IPEd

CEO’s message

Welcome to 2022.

IPEd prioritises the health and wellbeing of all members, staff and volunteers and we hope you stay safe and healthy. But the year has already brought many uncertainties with the rise of the Omicron strain.

As we deal with this as an organisation, we will continue to support you, our members. Please be aware that sometimes personnel may be affected and unable to work. This means the progress of some work may slow. We ask for your patience if you experience issues.

Our latest COVID-19 communiqué outlines some assistance available for members.

Staff changes

Our formidable Communications Officer, Kate Tilley, is leaving IPEd to focus on other client projects. We have been incredibly lucky to have had her experience and professionalism on board for the past two years and wish her and her team well.

Catherine Van has been appointed to the role and brings with her more than 15 years’ experience in marketing and communications, having worked as a digital marketing manager, communications consultant, senior media officer and newspaper journalist in Australia and Asia. She is accustomed to working directly with chief executives, boards of management and clients and looks forward to working with IPEd members and staff.

We also farewell much-loved Project Officer Tay Winchester who has moved to regional Queensland and is taking up new opportunities. We’re very pleased she will still be around in some capacity as a volunteer on our conference work.

Authors and editors in conversation

After the success of the inaugural 2021 Brisbane Writers Festival–IPEd series of authors and editors in conversation, we’re delighted the event will continue this year.

We’re grateful for the assistance of the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund in providing some sponsorship for the series.

Celebrating members’ success

Congratulations to IPEd member Eugen Bacon, whose new book, Danged Black Thing, featured in The Sydney Morning Herald last month. Her short fiction was described as being as “sensual and intense as a tropical garden”. It’s great to see IPEd members getting the recognition they deserve.

If you’ve got something to celebrate, or want to highlight another member’s achievements, please let us know. Email communication@iped-editors.org.

Warm regards
