From the committee

By Glenine Hamlyn, Past president (by the time you read this), Editors Queensland

The Elephant British Pub in the Adelaide CBD has never seen anything like it. Nine Queensland editors and one friend converged on their premises on Friday evening, 25 July, at the end of a successful IPEd Conference. I remember years ago, at another IPEd conference, there was a competition to come up with the appropriate nomenclature for a collection of editors, and someone suggested a “gaggle”. I think I now know why. We held our own against the DJ’s loud but very good music (took many of us back to our youth), but if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, so after a little imbibing, a few of us were up on the dance floor. We were joined by a couple of very young ladies who knew all the lyrics. Asked about that later, one of them said, “Our parents play this music.” Enough said!

Back to serious business: By the time this Gatherings is published, Editors Queensland will have a shiny new branch committee. There will be a few changes, and we look forward to some fresh faces joining us. Please get in touch with any suggestions, observations and fabulous ideas you may have. Just email our president: edqld.president@iped-editors.org.
