IPEd

By Caroline Arnoul

Dr Linda Nix AE ran her popular grammar refresher course on behalf of Editors Victoria over two sessions in late July. Linda took participants through the main parts of speech, phrases and clauses, sentences, the role of punctuation, and syntax, as well as how to fix common punctuation and syntax errors.

The sessions included practical exercises, with which Amanda Webster AE assisted Linda, to enable participants to learn the mechanics behind why and how words work together to produce meaning – and why sometimes they don’t work together as well as they should. Participants also learned how understanding grammar enables its use as a creative tool for both improving expression and achieving the desired effect.

Here’s what participants had to say about the July course:

“An excellent overview of grammar, explaining the rules and where to break them.”

“This course was expertly delivered, and the content was comprehensive, interesting and useful.”

“The course was an excellent refresher course.”

If your grammar skills need refreshing, or if perhaps you’re thinking about sitting the accreditation exam in 2024, this course is an excellent opportunity to remind yourself of some grammar fundamentals and learn some expert tips.

Editors Victoria will be running the course again in September this year. If you’d like to attend, details are below:
