IPEd

By Editors Western Australia

During the weekend of 23 to 25 February 2024, the State Library of Western Australia served as the meeting place for a large contingent of authors, writers and readers – and a good few editors too – which formed the Perth Festival 2024 Writers Weekend.

Hosted and run by Writing WA, this annual event boasted a wide variety of panel discussions, masterclasses and workshops with the intent of celebrating the work of the brilliant writers, poets and illustrators that Australia has to offer.

IPEd and Editors WA were afforded the opportunity to set up a stand where anyone could learn more about the benefits IPEd provides not only to editorial professionals, but to writers as well.

There seemed to be great interest in the stand, where our representatives conversed with several writers, practising editors and even budding editors interested in editing as a career. Overall, this stand proved a valuable avenue for IPEd to promote the profession to the general writing and reading community.

Various resources were also displayed at the stand, including the IPEd Guide to working with self-employed editors, IPEd-branded bookmarks sporting QR codes that link to the IPEd directory, and a range of editing resource books and style guides to demonstrate the sources of knowledge editors use in their daily work.

Many thanks go to the Writing WA team for including IPEd at this year’s event, as well as to the Editors WA members who gave their time to representing IPEd at the stand.
