Kia ora,
We’ve made it past the shortest day, and we’ll be celebrating Matariki on 10 July. I hope you can find time to celebrate the Māori New Year. Head to matariki.co.nz to learn how you can celebrate and how you can spot the stars – you’ll need to be up early!
If you edit for businesses, corporates, or central or local government, and you’re wanting to learn about how generative AI can help with your writing and editing process, consider signing up for AI for the modern-day editor – an interactive workshop. Nelson editor Debra Bradley is running the workshop, and I’ll be there coordinating.
Debra saw AI’s potential to disrupt her business, so she’s been exploring how she can use it effectively.
I’ve found that AI doesn’t replace my thinking – instead, it supports the more laborious stages of the writing process and frees up mental space for me to consider new ideas and options that I might not come up with on my own.
I know that AI’s place in the editing process is contentious. I’m excited to learn about her process and how she’s making it work for her and her clients.
Finally, remember to keep in touch with Editors Aotearoa New Zealand through our Facebook page.
Ngā mihi o te tau hou.
