IPEd

By Amber Hall

On 26 November, Editors Victoria closed out 2025 with an end-of-year celebration at the Gertrude Hotel. The evening featured an engaging conversation between historian Professor Clare Wright and Cecile Shanahan, EdVic’s communications officer.

Professor Wright reflected on her research, writing and the role of historians as storytellers who can place readers inside compelling narratives where, as in the present moment, the future is uncertain. Attendees also enjoyed the chance to purchase signed copies of her books, including her latest Näku Dhäruk: the bark petitions, made possible through the kind support of the Brunswick Street Bookstore.

With delicious pizza, plenty of drinks, prize giveaways and lively conversation, the event offered members a welcome opportunity to reconnect and meet new colleagues. Warm thanks go to Professor Wright and Cecile, along with our events officer, Kylie Howard, and the committee members whose work ensured the evening’s success. The committee would also like to thank Cecile for organising and donating the book bundle prizes.

The celebration capped off a busy year of social events and professional development activities for Editors Victoria and IPEd, with more planned for 2026! We thank all members for their continued support throughout the year and wish everyone a safe festive season.
