IPEd

From the Working Party on Artificial Intelligence

Over the past few months, the IPEd Working Party on Artificial Intelligence (AI) has continued to broaden its knowledge of the latest AI tools for editors and ways that editors can use them ethically. We’ve also been gathering information on the ethics and practicalities of working with AI-generated content.

On the advocacy front, we submitted a response to the Productivity Commission’s interim report on harnessing data and digital technology. Our submission is published on the IPEd website.

We continue to scan the media for the latest on AI and editing, with findings published on the member portal. Take a look at the News in editing-related AI page for links to articles, including one written by Renée Otmar DE, Sharon Mullins and Rose Michael titled “Ethics and the use of generative AI in professional editing” in AI and Ethics, as well as the Productivity Commission’s interim report, a piece on the hidden costs of AI copyediting tools and much more.
