Accreditation exam postponed

Posted on: 24 March 2020

IPEd has made the tough decision to postpone the 2020 accreditation exam until we can be sure it can go ahead.

The Accreditation Board will continue with exam development so we can schedule the exam for a date within three months of lockdowns being lifted throughout Australia and New Zealand. We hope this will be either late 2020 or early 2021, but obviously it is impossible to nominate a likely date at this stage.

Those editors who have already registered for the exam will receive a full refund, and be invited to register again once we know the new date.

Exam preparation webinars and workshops

Since the exam will definitely go ahead at some stage, potential candidates will not be wasting their time by accessing the webinars or attending online versions of the exam preparation workshops. With a longer lead time to the exam, this could be a great opportunity to hone your editing skills and expand your knowledge of editing practice in preparation for the exam.

The Tour of the exam documents webinar will go ahead this weekend. It’s not too late to register if you haven’t already.

The Accreditation Board will offer an online version of the exam preparation workshop to New Zealand, Tasmanian and Western Australian branch members and regional members of other branches. This will likely be two or three shorter sessions rather than a full-day workshop. Dates and costs are still being worked out.

Other branches are deciding whether to take their workshops online instead of, or as well as, postponing them to a later date. If a branch decides not to take its workshop online, and if there is sufficient demand, the Accreditation Board will consider running its own online version for all members.

Stay safe.
