IPEd Conference

The 8th IPEd National Editors Conference, 'Advancing our Profession' will be held in Brisbane from 13 to 15 September, 2017. More information and registration is available on the conference website. Follow us on Twitter @IPED_Conf

Accredited and distinguished editors may use the postnominals AE and DE respectively.

As AE and DE postnominals are still relatively new, editors should provide a full spelling or explanation. It may also be necessary to explain IPEd.

For example, ‘Jane Doe, AE (Accredited Editor, Institute of Professional Editors Limited)’, or ‘Jane Doe is an Accredited Editor (AE)’.

Qualifications should be listed in this order:

  • national and royal honours (AO, AM, AC, KCMG, etc.)
  • degrees, diplomas
  • fellowships, then memberships (including AE and DE).

Both AE and DE postnominals apply to individual editors only and are not to be used after business names. IPEd accredits editors, not editing businesses.

Find an editor

IPEd has established the Editors Directory. Clients can search the directory for freelance editors using specific criteria. These will identify editors that have specific interests, skills or experience in certain areas.
